I started scrapbooking in 8th grade when I got a camera for graduation! I used the old magnetic style albums, cut up my photos, glued down construction paper and that was it. I’ve come a long way since then. About 10 years ago my mom became a Creative Memories consultant and got me hooked on scrapbooking ‘the right way’. I’ve been loving it ever since! Ever since I had kids and met some great scrapping girlfriends, the obsession has just grown and grown.

My favorite techniques include stamping, layering paper and cutting up patterned paper to make my own embellishments. I also enjoy inking, sanding, and distressing. There’s really not anything I won’t try at least once! I love learning new things and trying all sorts of new techniques on my layouts. I am so excited I found SBCH, everyone has been so friendly and there is so much talent. Just cruising the gallery is enough to get my mojo flowing again!!

Our SBCH Spotlight – Design Team – Laura C!

I started scrapping in the fall of 2005 after my niece was born. I was collecting all of these adorable pictures and I needed something to do with them. I started reading scrapbooking magazines and idea books and my supply stash began to grow. Then I met a group of women who meet at a local store monthly to crop, and scrapping moved from a hobby to a (healthy) obsession. My love of doing minibooks hearkens back to my college days when I took classes in book arts.

My favorite technique would have to be inking. I love how it makes items stand out and gives a more “finished” look. Also, I’ve discovered how handy and attractive sanding can be as a technique, especially when covering chipboard.

I love scrapbooking for the art and craft of creating, for the companionship of the friends I’ve met along the way (both online and in person) but most of all for the recording of my family’s stories. I like knowing that, when I’m gone, a part of me will live on through my scrapbooks.

I started scrapbooking after the birth of my first nephew.  I have always loved to do creative things, and scrapping my adorable nephew was a great excuse to try out this new craft.  I scrap to preserve memories for future generations, but mostly I scrap for me.  I scrap to destress and for the joy of creating.  And I love this hobby more and more as I explore new techniques and products.

I currently live in the suburbs of Atlanta with my husband and 2 dogs.  I work as a Market Researcher, but spend almost every weekend scrapbooking with my friends.
Here are some of Jessica’s awesome creations designed with the “SBCH November Prima Kit“!

Scrapbooking was first introduced to me as a way to preserve your photos back in 1997. My sister had just had a baby and her mil had shown her the wonderful world of bright cardstock and baby rattle stickers. I liked it right off the bat and did pages about my pets and events in the family. I didn’t get super into it (read addicted) untill I had my first baby in 1999. After she was born, and I found some time for myself, scrapbooking became my hobby, my creative outlet and my “me” time.

I love that scrapbooking allows me to record the stories of my family so I will never forget them. The little details of a childs life and personality are so precious that recording them has become my passion. They grow up so fast and I want to remember as much as possible. I also love the artistic side of scrapping. Before the kids were born I was an interior designer and I miss the creative part of that. Scrapbooking allows me to be as creative as I want to be. There are no limitations.
