SBCH Spotlight – Design Team – Nadine!

Each week Scrapbooker’s Club House will Spotlight one of our awesome Design Team Members. They will share a bit about how they started this wonderful hobby we call scrapbooking and share their favorite techniques! Enjoy!

Our first DT Member spotlight is Nadine H.

             Nadine

Hi everyone, my name is Nadine. I started scrapbooking 9 years ago (wow it’s crazy to see that!) when I was 13. I received a scrapbooking kit from my parents for Christmas, went to a Creative Memories party a couple months after that, and that was it! I was hooked! For the first few years I scrapped using deco scissors and cutting my photos, though I didn’t scrap that often. The summer after my 16 birthday I discovered scrapbooking magazines and the world of fabulous product! My bank account has been in trouble ever since then!

My favorite technique when scrapbooking is probably altering chipboard. I am obsessed with my spray adhesive and since discovering it I use it to cover my chipboard all the time now. It’s something that appears on almost all of my layouts because it takes something that every scrapbooker might have and changes it up a bit. I’m a single gal so most of my scrapbook pages are about my daily life – my family, my friends, my pets and any other crazy thing that happens in my life. I am not afraid to scrapbook it all!

And now I’m off to scrapbook!

Here are some of Nadine’s awesome creations:

Happy Birthday Scrapbooker’s Club House!

To honor Scrapbooker’s Club House 3rd year in business, I have asked Nicole Drewniak(Owner) aka “da Boss Lady” to share with us a bit about how SBCH got started and what it is like to own an online scrapbooking store….here is her story:

How It All Began

We thought you might be interested in finding out how Scrapbooker’s Club House was “born”.  Back in 2004, I had my second child and had no interest in going back to my regular job that I had had for the previous 8 years.  Both of my children were also ill a lot of the time (we didn’t know why) and I knew my employer would not be sympathetic to me having to spend so much time at doctor’s appointments.

The decision to leave my job was relatively easy but I was still interested in pursuing a career.  I thought often of working for myself but I wasn’t sure which avenue I wanted to take as I wanted to be sure I would be able to juggle family and work.

An online business seemed to be the way to go.  I could create my own hours and still be at home for the children.  With a lot of research and the help of a friend who was already in business, I opened Scrapbooker’s Club House in September of 2004.

I will be honest.  I was incredibly naïve about this business.  It is not easy.  It takes up as much time as any full time job outside the home, the competition is massive, and the hypocrisy is shocking.  I have seen several stores come and go in the last 3 years for various reasons and I am thankful that we have such great customers that support us.  We are not the biggest store out there but we strive to provide the best service possible.  We are learning everyday and hope you will continue to walk along with us in our journey.

I  want to take a moment to thank my brilliant Design Team and our amazing DT Coordinator, Noella.  These girls make it a pleasure to come to work each day!  Your enthusiasm and dedication are to be admired.

Last, but not least, I thank my husband, Terry.  He is the love of my life and I couldn’t do all of this without him.  1-4-3!

I hope you enjoy this blog and all the fun things we have planned for you!  Pop by here and on the forum.  We’d love to get to know you!
