Our Guest Designer Spotlight- Dallas Varoney
I started scrapbooking when I had my first daughter about 6 years ago. I never thought it would be something I would like. I watched my sister play with her scrapbooks and her fancy scissors and stickers for the longest time and thought it was kind of childish. But then one day she came to visit and hulled her big tote full of goodies over to my house and I was in love. It was then I realized that there was more to it then fancy scissors and stickers. It was a fun creative way to preserve memories. So the next day I went to our local scrapbooking store and dropped probably $300 or more on supplies that I just HAD to have and that was the beginning of my obsession. Now I spend more than I should on all sorts of scrappy things and get a butterfly feeling in my stomach every time a new pizza box full of goodies is delivered to me.
Since then I’ve had the pleasure to be designing for my local scrapbooking store. I’ve also been a guest designer for a few online stores as well as a permanent designer for some. I’ve also had the wonderful opportunity to be a guest designer for Dream Street papers, and had a few of my layouts published in various online magazines. And I owe all my many accomplishments to my sister.
Some of my favourite techniques that I use on my layouts are detail cutting. I love to cut flowers and patterns from patterned papers. Also I love the look of sewing. I don’t use it as much as I’d like to (mostly because I’m too lazy to drag out my clunky machine) but I do love the look of it. Along with those I love to use chipboard. Chipboard letters, chipboard shapes, I just love the extra detail and texture that chipboard adds to a page.
I’ve been hanging out at the Club House for quite some time now and have found that there is never a dull moment. Every member there is so friendly and always willing to help you out. There is tons of inspiration in the gallery and with challenges so your creative mojo is constantly flowing. I consider it my scrappy home and was so honoured to be asked to be the guest designer for November. Thank you so much Nicole and Noella for this wonderful opportunity.

This week’s member spotlight is: Sherry Owens
Sherry aka ‘FunAuntSherry′
I remember growing up, asking my grandma all kinds of questions about the times she’d seen. She grew up in the teens and was a mother in the twenties and again in the forties. She saw so much history and I was always curious about how she dressed, entertained and lived. She never answered my questions, whether it was unpleasant for her or she just found it uninteresting, I’ll never know.
I got a box of photos after she passed and I was left with a lot of the same unanswered questions. Some photos labeled such as “Mother and Me, Yesterday” drove me to be more attentive to the details in my own life… and were screaming to be identified and preserved.
Being a crafter at heart, finding out about the world of scrapbooking I knew that this was the best solution to the problem of identifying and preserving those old photos and keeping track of current photos as well. I’ve since evolved from just preserving old photos to creating new memories of every-day life with the art of scrapbooking.
I love being able to delve into my art and immerse myself in the feel of the paper and all the textural trendy supplies. I really get into the physical aspect of sanding edges and the visual trick of using ink to add dimension.
I notice my style evolves as the industry does and from being surrounded by so many talented scrapers with such great ideas. I have been so inspired by challenges and members since joining SBCH that I’ve been able to produce some extremely memorable “memories” and I really enjoy the camaraderie that can be found here at any hour on any day.

Our SBCH Spotlight – Design Team- Tammie Manwarren
I began scrapping in Oct. of 2002. I quickly became addicted and I never looked back. I love being a part of the DT here at scrapbookersclubhouse. It is so rewarding to come to a place on a daily basis and know I have so many good friends.
I have been married to my dh, David for 14 years now and we have two boys Matthew, 14, and Justin, 11. I love to use them in my layouts, but lately my nieces have been getting a large part of my layout attention. I have been fortunate to have been published a few times in Scrapbooking and Beyond, Memory Makers and Scrapbook and Cards Today. I am also lucky enough to be able to teach at my lss.
I don’t think that I have a particular style, so I just go put stuff on paper and see where it takes me. I do love to work from sketches, and twist and turn them every which way I can. And Challenges, don’t get me started on those. Bring it on!!!
