Fall brings to my mind changes in the leaves, crispness in the air and for some reason dances! School dances, Halloween dances and Christmas parties are on people’s minds this time of year. What came to my mind this fall is Elegance. I live in a small community where blue jeans and hooded sweaters are nearly a way of life. Sometimes I dream of the glitz and glamour of having a stunning, sequined ball gown, fashionable, slinky high heels and a man in a stunning tuxedo and best of all…..a place to go to dance the night away! This is where the idea of the Fall Ball Crop comes from.

This is a great way to add texture to your projects!

You will need:
Paper
Piercing tool
Mousepad

1. Draw a design lightly with a pencil or use a template.

If using a template, be sure to hold it down firmly or tape it with an easily removable/low tack tape.

2. Place a mousepad or piercing pad under paper. Pierce holes into paper using your paper piercing tool (or even a sharp embroidery needle or tack will work if you are in a pinch).

3. When you have pierced all the holes, remove template.

4. Now you can leave the piercing as is, or stitch along your pattern. It’s up to you!

Okay girls! I have a class for you..ps..pardon my manicure..scrapping does a number on the finger nails..tee hee

Supplies:

3 pieces of coordinating Patterned papers
2 scrap piece coordinating cardstock Cut 2″ x 6″
Ribbon
1 piece of chipboard 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 (Used only for a template)
Tags different sizes
ranger ink
Crop a dile
Any embellishements you would like to use

Instructions:

1. Fold over your first sheet of paper over the chipboard template. You should have a bit of an overlap where you will be able to glue.

2. Remove the chipboard template before you glue. Continue to fold the two other PP the same as the first.

3. Fold all of your pieces in half again.

4. Place Your pages inside each other making sure you keep the pattern you want for your front cover on the outside. Using your crop a dile, punch 5 holes.

5. Add your ribbon along the edge to keep your book together.

6. On the front and back covers you will use the 2″ x 6″ strips folded in half lengthwise and glue on the edge to overlap.

7. Cut out different shapes for the pockets. And embellish away!

I thought this was a cool one! You can make this work with whatever you have on hand.   I did mine with Halloween in mind but this is easily adapted to whatever occassion you need it for.

1. Cut your cardstock to 10.5 “x 5.0″.
2. Score your cardstock at 1.25″, 2.5″, 4.25″, 6″ and 8.25″. Now fold accordian style. The smallest fold should be folded down as this will be the front of your card.
3. Now the fun part: embellish with stamps, punches, die cuts, stickers, chipboard, etc. Any theme will work.

Here are some samples that I did recently.  It is truly a versatile kit where you can scrap kids and adults alike.

I’ve had a few people ask about ideas for the canvas tags/patches in the kit. As you can see above, I did a half flower in the Explore layout. You can also see some like these:

Another idea is to use them for a small notebook cover. Similarly, I am doing a Thanksgiving/gratitude mini album which is below. I xyroned the canvas patch on and I think it works well for the cover of it.

Supplies:

patterned papers and cardstock that match – i used 3 patterns and 2 solids
large playing cards – mine are 5 x 7. Heidi Swapp makes some or you could use light weight chipboard cut to size ribbon
binder rings or something else to bind things – ribbon would work
glue stick or mod podge
scissors/exacto knife
alphas – i used thickers, but chipboard would be good too
embellishments that coordinateYou know those jointed happy birthday banners you can buy in the store? Well, I’m gonna show you how I make my own, using jumbo playing cards as the base. You can customize the colors and embellish to match your party perfectly! And everyone loves a homemade touch.  If there aren’t any parties in your future, how about a welcome banner for your living room? Or maybe a smaller version for your kids bedroom door? You could even plan ahead and make one that says Merry Christmas or Happy Thanksgiving. The sky’s the limit!

First I sanded the cards. Mine are right about 5×7. This got a bit messy, but was easily cleaned up with a damp cloth.
 

Next I covered one side of the card with glue stick and attached it to patterned paper for the back of the card. Then I sat on them. Really. It’s true. See, the heat and pressure helps the papers bond. Really. I learned it from Donna D. Now, if you’re using mod podge, I don’t recommend the sitting thing.
 

After I had all the playing cards backed, I cut them out. I used a total of 5.
 

Then you need to cover the other side. I used 2 different solids, and alternated them.
 

I then took the 3 that would have the message and added a little contrasting color to the background and added the letters. I used stickers for this and overlapped them, mostly because birthday didn’t fit otherwise.
 

I added the eyelets to the corners 1/2″ from both edges and used ribbon to tie the cards together. The ribbon is the only thing I measured. It was a little over 6″ long.
 

And after adding a little embellishment and doodling to the word cards and decorating the end cards with party themed stuff (this is for dd’s high school musical party), it’s all done.

You will need:

Pattern paper
Pencil
Brown ink
Stapler
Button
Adhesive
Scissors

1. Free hand or trace flower template. I traced some Fancy Pants chipboard flower shapes for mine. As you can see, they don’t all need to be the same shape but they do need to be different sizes.

2. Cut out flower shapes with scissors. If you want a fuller flower, trace and cut more of the first 2 layers.

3. Ink edges of flowers using brown ink.

4. Fold flowers in half and staple along crease. For the smallest flower, fold in half twice and then staple. Set the smallest flower aside.

5. Begin to layer the flowers. Open the largest one and shape it the way you want. Then open the next flower layer and adhere to the previous with tape runner/glue dots/adhesive. Continue until you have all the layers attached.

6. Attach button to flower center and voila! It is now ready to your layout, card, or altered item.
